This Deathshadow deck looks like it can be upgraded in the future in to something like Rakdos or even Grixis? ![]() I also saw the recent Mono-White tokens deck featured on MTGgoldfish but was told that the deck doesn't really have any upgrade path so it's a bad investment. ![]() I found this 12 Shadow budget decklist featured on an article from MTGgoldfish and it looks really fun. I know everyone is gonna tell me to play something mono-red like Burn, Prowess or 8-Whack but i personally don't really enjoy playing those kinds of deck and was hoping there maybe were some other also viable budget options in modern? So i've been looking to get in to modern recently since it's one of the most played formats at my LGS, but i'm on a tight budget (around 100$, wow is modern expensive haha). The reason multicolor sets tend to dominate Standard is that they come with good mana fixing (the shocklands, in this case) in order to make multicolor cards (which are more powerful since they're harder to cast) more castable. This subreddit is for players of any level of experience to discuss any topics regarding the Modern format, whether it is decks that pro's have been winning with, metagame discussion, card discussion, or home brews. For comparison, if I'm not mistaken there were only 11 multicolored cards in Magic 2019. Guilds of Ravnica (like the 6 Ravnica expansions that came before it) was about two-colored pairs (the guilds, duh), and as such had an elevated number of multicolored cards. Magic 2019 was a core set so those are usually theme-neutral and simplistic, though it had a light Nicol Bolas theme. Dominaria was defined around history (the plane is the oldest one in the game of Magic, with dozens of expansions set on it). Ixalan and Rivals of Ixalan were mostly defined with flavor surrounding "age of exploration" stuff, hence why there weren't that many mechanical themes in the set. Yep! Every expansion has its own themes, whether that's flavor, mechanics, or both. To import into MTG Arena, just highlight the cards you want, copy to the clipboard, then go to decks in Arena and click "Import". You can also import them into mtgarena.pro to compare your collection against these decklists, however that site has problems when you're trying to import decklists that are > 60 cards or so, so I had to break the GRN list into 2 pieces to get it on that site. It also gives you an idea of which sets are more valuable. I mainly wanted to see how complete my collection of playables are, though there are some "playables" that are not on here, it's a pretty reasonable snapshot of the important rares/mythics in the format right now. Some of the top 12 decks were repeats (like there are 2 Mono-Red Aggros), so there may be less than 12 distinct archetypes here. I took the top 12 decks from MTGGoldfish standard meta and took all the Mythics and Rares from the maindecks and sideboards (of the default list only). I made these for my own collection tracking.
